How is it possible that the last unofficial week of summer is approaching this quickly? With one week left until Labor Day a few thoughts enter my mind concerning the upcoming holiday. It’s the last weekend of pools being open; over-indulging on Aunt Sally’s potato salad at the family picnic, and, most likely, there will be one heck of a Martha Stewart White Sale at some store or another. But most importantly, the number one thing that rings in my head the Tuesday morning after Labor Day is the real white factor.
Oh come on, you know what I’m talking about. I’m speaking on the rule that was formally abided by proudly and now has become the unspoken yet none-the-less honored practice. It consists of two simple parts. Don’t wear white until Easter. Don’t ever wear white after Labor Day. I want to know who dictated that clever little fashion demand years ago. Fashion is a personal statement you make for yourself which shouldn’t be contained by “rules”. I say if you want to wear white all year around go for it. More power to you if you’re the only one draped in a white cocktail dress throwing back eggnog at your annual Christmas party.
However, I know there are some traditionalists out there who play by the rules and will tuck away the linen pants and white wide-brimmed hats next Monday. No matter how you view the “White clothing rule.” in honor of wearing the crisp color and looking fabulous all summer (technically until Sept. 21st - the last official day of the season) the count down to Labor Day should be celebrated by wearing a piece of white this entire coming weekend!
Rummage through your closets and find these staple pieces that you can flaunt this upcoming week. After all, for many of you, these clothes won’t see the light of day for another eight months.
First off we have the over-sized white bag or purse. I love a white bag because it pretty much goes with anything. One of my friends always wear hers well into the fall and ties a square-patterned scarf around one of the shoulder-straps for a cute accent.

Now, I know you have a pair of white shoes that are dying to be worn because you probably haven’t worn them much this summer as it is. White sandals are tricky to wear unless you have the right outfit. On day three pair them with a dress or top that has some sort of white pattern running throughout it. Navy and white clothing always looks fabulous with white flats. I love these above pictured Steve Madden “Day Break” Sandals available on Dillards.com for $79.99. Whatever your white-sandal choice, make sure your toes are pretty and pedicured.

On to the white dress. Every woman should own one (outside of the once-worn wedding dress.) A nice strapless, knee-length or higher white dress is a necessity because you can wear it anywhere. Play the dress down in the afternoon with flats and your hair pulled in a pony tail. Dress it up for the evening with some bright colored shoes and vivid jewelry. Hello Friday night on the town!
By the time the weekend rolls around it’s going to be poolside for one of the last times of the season. Now this is a daring request- pull out your white bathing suit if you own one. Lounge by the sparkling water in a full piece with cut-out sides which are very popular this year. Just avoid the white swim suit if you’re headed to the lake because it’ll get dingy in lake water. (Pictured from everythingbutwater.com)

Slip on a pair of comfy linen drawstring white pants Sunday and experience what summer actually feels like on your body. Cool and soft, linen is one of my favorite fabrics and I love wearing drawstring linen pants casually with a tank top. J Crew takes the pant to an effortless level in their pictured women’s linen trousers; check them out at Jcrew.com.
When you actually make it to Labor Day, wear your favorite white item left in your closet. If you realize you wish you had more of this color in your wardrobe, hit up the stores for Labor Day sales. Most of their white clothing will be discounted and if anything, you can put it away for next spring.
Don’t be surprised when Labor Day passes if you find your self wanting to wear more white. The color is worn with confidence and others definitely will notice you when you’re wearing it leading up to Labor Day. So get to your closet and start digging! You’ve got some white to find!

Don't you wish you were lounging here...

Gathering a group of friends together for dinner, drinks or plain laughter in the home is one of my favorite things in the world. Great stories and hysterical recollections usually surface and new memories are made. While the sultry nights begin to cool into more bearable temperatures, (Eighty degrees for the low would be acceptable), I look forward to evenings outside. More cookouts with groups of friends, girls night sipping salty margaritas and, of course, laid back Sundays with my boyfriend and pets on the deck.
There is something magical about evenings outdoors watching the sun set and the stars twinkle in the sky. OK, that line sounded like a cheesy one-liner straight out of a paperback romance novel but being outside at home is just simply comforting. Consider your outdoor space an additional room to your home. Whether several acres of land or a small porch connect to your house, you should make a portion of your setting in the great outdoors a room for gathering outside of the house.

While lawn furniture is on its way out of season in the retail world, we’re lucky enough in Tennessee to be able to take advantage of lounging on the patio or porch well into October. With three full months of weather ahead working in our favor, why not take advantage of retail’s dilemma? Home furniture stores are moving out the lounge chairs and patio tables at a discounted speed to make way for new autumn picks and Christmas décor. Yes, I said Christmas.

Now is absolutely the time to buy the perfect wooden patio table, chairs and fabulous green and yellow striped cushions you’ve been eyeing since March but couldn’t justify splurging on. Pottery Barn is running an outdoor living sale with popular pieces up to 60 percent off right now. Restoration Hardware’s website is worth browsing for comparable savings. With discounts soaring, why not create a space aside from the typical table and chairs? Create a sitting area similar to your living room with rattan furniture, plush cushions and benches complete with a coffee table in the middle. My idea of the ultimate back-yard living room is pictured here with the wrap-around add-on wooden chairs softened with khaki cushions in the Chesapeake Collection on sale now on Potterybarn.com.

The Santa Barbara beach-inspired collection pictured from Restoration Hardware at in the top left hand corner takes a simplistic yet lavishly comfortable approach to outdoor living. Light wood and sage cushions have me dreaming of the beach. What about a more unique piece for the entertaining area? Ever considered a patio bar? Not only will you enjoy serving Coronas in the heat, when it’s time for hot chocolate by the outdoor patio fire pit this fall, it’s going to be extremely convenient to have a drink station on hand complete with fixings for s’mores.

Quite possibly one of my favorite ways to create a setting on the lawn or on your porch is with lighting. Lighting can create a mood that is impossible to resist. Do you remember when you were a child and the trees in the South became ablaze with the soft glow of fireflies? Re-create this image with small neutral dimly-lit lanterns strung across low-lying branches trees close to your sitting area. With citronella candles’ aroma filling the air and keeping the mosquitoes away, you have created a relaxing room outside to dine under or lie for months to come.

Another way to create either a dramatic or calm lighting ensemble outdoors is with oversized beach lanterns and hurricane jars. Again, use citronella candles in these light fixtures and choose from decorating with them on tables, placing them on the ground, or even opt to hang smaller beach lanterns from the trees.

If you are truly going to create an outdoor space that exemplifies your personal style and comfort, you may want to consider speaking with a design consultant. Inside Out in Brentwood off of Church Street is going to be a good place to start if you are here in the Nashville area. With a knowledgeable staff and very favorable pieces for porches, patios, and the poolside area, Inside Out is the perfect place to get started on your end-of-summer outdoor get-away.

If you currently have the same old furniture that you’ve had for the past five years or more, it’s most likely time to replace it. Unless you are protecting your pieces during the colder months by covering or storing them away each year (which I would highly suggest doing in the future) most likely, wear and tear have taken their toll. There are plenty of stores still completely stocked with the finds you need, Why not start fresh this year when the time to buy is right? Your additional room to the house doesn’t need to cost tens of thousands of dollars to add on. It just so happens, it’s already there- right outside your door.
With careful planning and a good eye for a bargain, your room can be complete to enjoy far beyond this summer.

Sundresses, frozen yogurt, laziness are my staples of summer

Isn’t it ironic that the days are at their hottest and sunlight continues to linger past eight o’clock assuring us that summer is still in full swing, yet children are getting ready to return to school already? I remember when Labor Day was the standard for No. 2 pencils, Crayola Crayons, and snazzy new outfits to make their fall debut. My school days are long past and I don’t have children, so for me it definitely still feels like summer. I plan to lavish in my white clothing, continue to barbecue until I can’t stand another hamburger, and enjoy fresh produce as long as I can…or at least until Labor Day. There are so many things I love about the summer season. Though I may only have another month or so to enjoy them, I plan to overindulge while I can. I wanted to share some of my summer favorites with you and see what we have in common.

A tomato snob? Yes!- Call me a tomato snob, but the cardboard reddish-yellow tomatoes you pick up in the grocery in March are no comparison to a fresh, plump bright red tomato right out of the garden in the heart of summer. I love fresh produce. An array of berries, peaches and cream corn on the cob and my personal favorite – juicy strawberries are a staples of summer; and what better place to find fresh produce than a roadside stand or a local farmer’s market. Road side stands and farmers' markets are a nice vacation from the cold produce aisle at the super market and truly exemplify the sweetness of summer.

Take me out to the ball game- Even though Nashville doesn't have a Major League Baseball team in Nashville, I still look forward to my first hot dog of the year at a Sounds game each summer. There’s something about the bright lights, the sound of a bat cracking a home run, and the random guy who’s been over served waving his foam finger in the crowd. What is it about a ball game that consumes children and adults alike? You can experience it too by heading to a game. You have until Aug. 29 – the last home game -- to find out!
Sundress love- Hands down, the thing that beckons me to the thoughts of summer while there are still flurries on the ground are sun dresses. I’ve always been a girly-girl and there isn’t anything more relaxing and pretty feeling than a summer breeze over my shoulders when I’m wearing a pretty floral dress. If it were up to me I would wear a dress every day and run through a field full of daisies. Unfortunately I live and work outside of the daisy field but I do know where to find cute dresses. I love this top-pictured strapless dress from J Crew. It’s perfect for a summer soirée and it’s a great transitional piece paired with a navy cardigan for the fall.

Move over cupcakes, it's yogurt time- I’m officially coining this decade “Explosion of the Frozen Yogurt Chains.” Can I get a Trade Mark on that? While cupcakes were the growing gourmet trend over the past few years, it appears that “build your own yogurt concoction chains” are sweeping the South now. I’m not complaining. Five years ago I had the choice of 31 flavors. Now I have the choice of multiple flavors and 75 toppings! The perfect summer night for me is chocolate-banana swirls with chopped nuts and rainbow sprinkles. Now that there is a Sweet CeCe’s coming right into the middle of Brentwood, the whole family can enjoy the perfect night! Too bad we have to wait until October to enjoy the location.

No matter what you’re wearing or eating during the month of August, just remember it’s not here for much longer, so even if the kids are in school, take advantage of the firefly summer nights and the sunny summer afternoons. I’ve always thought the Country time Lemonade commercials sum up what summer is supposed to be -- relaxing, carefree fun. So dive in and revisit your youth; the lazy, hazy days of summer. I’m going to!

Pizza entertainment for eight coming right up

Summer is in full swing and I hate the heat. OK, hate may be too strong of a word. I dislike this heat. I do, however, HATE the humidity. I go outside for five minutes and I have to come back in my house to take another shower. In a minimal amount of time in this humidity my make-up has melted off and my hair is a frizzy mess.
So I don’t go outside when I don’t have to. What a shame when I love to entertain but my disdain for this un-ending heat wave makes a back yard bar-b-que more like a chore than a good way to get friends together for an evening of food and fun.
Luckily, I’ve always thought the kitchen is an endearing room in the house to get people together. Some of the most entertaining stories and best laughs come out of group time in the kitchen whether preparing a meal or enjoying a glass of wine around the table together. So this week to entertain our favorites, we are going to do a group homemade pizza night with delicious drinks!
Let me tell you now, you are going to throw one of these get-to-gethers and I promise, you will be an instant entertaining hit among your group! If you aren’t, send the pizza dough bill to my house.

The Invite - So here’s what you do. This is a laid back casual event. Send an E-vite to a few couples or around 4-6 friends requesting their presence for a night of preparing pizza together. Request that each couple or friend bring the toppings of their favorite pizza and dough will be provided. The beauty of this idea is the fact that there are so many pizza combinations these days. If anyone asks you for ideas you could suggest barbecue Chicken pizza, Hawaiian pizza (ham and pineapple), Sun-dried tomato Chicken Pesto Pizza, and, of course, the basic sausage and pepperoni or garden vegetable pizza.

Request that when your guests R.S.V.P on the E-vite that they should note which kind of pizza they’ll be preparing. This way no one will make the same recipe. The idea of the night is to have a variety of pizza for everyone to try.

Preparation- On the day of the event, stock up on already-prepared pizza dough which you can find in the bakery at Publix. Purchase enough dough for each of the individual pizzas that your guest’s replied that they would prepare. You may want to buy a few extra cans of pizza sauce. I refuse to use anything except Glen Muir’s Organic Pizza Sauce which can be found at Whole Foods.
For appetizers you’ll be serving red-roasted hummus dip (already made in the deli section of your grocery) and pita chips. Also buy a loaf of Italian bread, break into pieces and serve with Extra Virgin Olive Oil sprinkled with Italian Seasoning on the side.

Since there are usually wine and beer drinkers in every crowd, pick up a few bottles of Red Bicyclette Pinot Noir (available at Brinkman’s Wine and Spirits in Cool Springs). You will be surprised how well the smooth texture of fruit aromas and black cherry combined with ripe plum and a light oak influence pair with pizzas. Peroni is a well-known Italian-style lager that you can purchase at most grocery stores to entertain the palette of your beer drinkers.

Right Before Guest Arrival- Before your guests arrive, pre-heat the oven to 375 degrees. Have a few bowls of flour set out which everyone will use for rolling pizza dough. Also have rolling pins handy for the dough process. Set out appetizers and a drink station in the kitchen complete with glasses, beverages, and ice so your friends can help themselves. Make sure you have plenty of clear space for your guests to prepare their pizzas. The kitchen table area and cleared counter or island space is ideal. Lastly, light some candles, and put on good music. Ray LaMontagne’s album Trouble is always a good pick for appealing lyrics and light hearted yet soulful rhythms.

When your friends arrive, encourage them to enjoy appetizers and drinks. Shortly after mingling, everyone should begin rolling out their pizza dough. The use of the flour helps with the kneading of the dough. Once rolled out, have guests take turns putting their dough without toppings in the oven for 10-15 minutes. After the pre-bake they can finish loading toppings and baking their pizza for 15-20 minutes or until the pizza crust is golden and the cheese is melted.

Everyone will love trying different versions of pizza. Making pizza takes time and it is a great opportunity for conversation. Enjoy your company, drinks and deliciousness and the fact that you are in the refreshing air condition amongst your closet friends. After all, when fall comes in a few months you will have plenty of time for cooking out on the grill and enjoying the great outdoors.

(Top right hand pizza is one of my own homemade pizzas. Bar-b-que chicken, roma tomatoes, red onions and sharp cheddar cheese with Masterpiece Bar-b-cue Sauce)

Confessions of a former tan-a-holic

My name is Amy.. I’m a Tan-a-holic. Well, Ex Tan-a-holic; But I will admit to an addiction that I’m still overcoming and cravings come often, especially during the sunny season of summer.

I’ve learned that the need for a tan really took over my life to an extent in the past. I’m trying to undo the damage now, but it could be years before I really see what damage I may have caused.

Let’s rewind to two years ago. A typical year for me, I began my obsessive tanning regimen in February. I’d recently joined a gym that had better tanning packages than the retail chains in the area. It was cold out and my body was completely covered from head to toe. Why would I need a tan? Hello! I was working out in shorts and God forbid somebody see pasty white legs! That’s what I convinced myself of anyway.

Spring came and that meant legs and arms would be out there for the world to see. I continued to tan in the beds every other day. Summer threw me into a bathing suit pool-side every weekend covered in baby oil.

I would spend hours in the sweat-drenching heat absorbing the light until I was forced to call it a day when the sun finally began to sink behind the Brentwood hills.

I even remember when I was a teenager my little sister used to beg me to just jump in the ocean with her on vacation but I refused because that could cause tanning lines and I could miss out on a perfectly even tan. Back then it was an unspoken but never-the-less very-apparent contest coming home from spring break. We all wanted to be the most tan.

Where did this tanning chaos get me? Looking fabulous of course. After all, everyone knows you look better in any outfit with a tan -- and even skinnier. Did I listen to all the warnings out there about UVA and UVB rays? Skin cancer and Melanoma? No. I was young, felt good and I was invincible. My view was “If the sun kills me, bury me in a white coffin…at least I’ll look good in it.” I know, ridiculous and immature but I also know some of my readers have gone through the same cycle to some extent.

About a year ago as I was getting dressed, I noticed I had more freckles on my arms than I used to and they were larger than the ones I was born with. Every couple of weeks more appeared on my arms, legs, and stomach. Then it happened. I was putting on makeup under my bright light and noticed two light brown spots on my face. Sun spots!

Suddenly a realization about 800 pounds hit me right on my tan little head. I was now 26 and already had age spots. I’d literally been paying the tanning bed for a decade to age me. I realized if I kept tanning at the rate I was, I was going to look like one of those West Palm Beach 40 year olds whose leathered skin would have them pass for someone 25 years older than their actual age. The possibility of skin cancer in my future was also a factor. Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, is often a result from tanning bed use.

I can’t reverse what I’ve already foolishly done. I have made some changes, though. Tanning beds are out of the question. You couldn’t pay me to use one now. The real sun is still appealing to lay poolside in, but not with out a 75 or higher sunscreen all over my body. (I’ve heard nothing over 30 spf works better, but I’m not taking any chances.) I love Koola Sun Block available at The Skin Bar in Brentwood for my face. It doesn’t go on greasy. I usually use Neutrogena spray for my body.

The good news of swearing off the sun? I feel like I’m doing something good for my body. I’m not the dark golden bronze that I used to be, but I do have a little color. I’ve found Express Tan in Brentwood does the best air brush tans. For $25 I can look like I’ve been to the beach for a week. A tanning consultant helps you choose the level of color for your skin and then they spray it on you with the relief of no streaks that spray booths can leave behind.

When I want the convenience of tanning in my own home, I have found L’oreal’s Sublime Bronze Tanning Towelettes in Medium available at Walgreens and Target are magnificent. You simply exfoliate your skin, and use one towel for your whole body. After about two days of use, you’ll have a wonderful glow! Streak factor is low with this product, though you may have to get someone to towel your back for the harder to reach areas.

I’d be lying if I said I don’t miss being dark all summer; especially when I throw on a black or white dress. But I know for a fact in the years to come my body will thank me for the lack of sun exposure. In the mean time, I’ll keep using my tanning towels, high SPF and knowledge on the risk of the sun. But for the moment, I’m headed to the pool and a nice shady umbrella for the afternoon. It’s only summer for another month and a half and I intend to enjoy it!

Wishing away winter

A pause between posts lasting this long could only be a result of these things... Coldness in the air… snowy mornings that last long into the night… cups of rich cocoa, thick clothing that engulfs our bodies... or simply put... WINTER.

For Some, Winter is a like a trip to Disney World. A cheery magical wonderland where Groundhogs and Baby New Year take Mickey Mouse and Bambi’s place. Where twirling tea cup saucers are replaced with sledding saucers that move down icy hills at the speed of light. For Some, Winter is just lovely.

I, on the other hand find my delights far from drab colors, lack of sun light, and frozen-over wind shields. My disgust for winter doesn’t touch on Christmas. In fact, I yearn for holiday decorating and entertaining…both which turned out incredible this year! However, when the tree comes down and the soiree appetizer calories add up….I find myself wanting to skip right over the cold months ahead and dream of nothing but pool side Saturday’s and porch swing Sundays.

While there is plenty of inspiration in the winter, or so I’ve been told, I decided in November to pull out my writing strike card. What can say? There is a picture of a hot pink umbrella on an island beach at the top of this blog, not a grey umbrella weighed down in snow! Vowing not to give in to Winter, I have saved my creative energies for the months to come!

Flurries filled the air yesterday morning, but thoughts of Spring have clouded my outlook! Visions of light, breezy fabrics have reclaimed our favorite shops again, masking the drab heavy textures that consumed the past months. Cheery boutique window displays are silently cursing the weather amongst us and begging sunny days to bring anxious shoppers in to stock up for Spring!

This Spring, I invite you to become a regular reader of The Raspberry Umbrella. Match a pair like these boots pictured from Piperlime with your dress, throw on a cutesy coat like this Jackie Kennedy inspired "When Life Gives you Lemons" coat also from Modcloth.com and say goodbye to the chill!

Another great opportunity to get a little dressed up falls when your Alma Mater calls for Homecoming! You actually get to go back to college, tailgate, and show you've learned more in the real world than simply keeping a check balance. You've got a career and it's time to dress like it! This red dress from Modcloth.com which looks like it came right off one of the women on AMC's Mad Men is sure to knock everyone off their feet! I would love to see this with a great Black Riding Boot and a black and white Hounds-tooth cropped jacket! I love this dress because red is my university's color. If you can find a dress this smashing in your school's color for Homecoming, I'd have to call you short of crazy for not scooping it up.

There have been some years when Jack Frost strays from our autumn months and Indian summer's relish deep into the autumn's starry evenings. Though I don't foresee this lovely image entertaining us this fall, having cooler options for your outings is still a smart move. This Ruffle Tweed Dress from the Limited keeps you cool but brings a fall touch with a winter-white hat.

Ladies, Raise your glasses. Raise them for your lucky horse. Though I love Halloween, I believe it sometime steals the attention away from the season that contains so much beauty and charm; or then again, maybe Halloween is just a headliner for Autumn.

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_F3TBy-muIM0/SrQtoLWzqsI/AAAAAAAAARI/0aXP3MGuqJ0/s1600-h/bbpumpkinale-425.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; Either way, celebrating Fall, aside from Halloween is a great way to get your friends and family together. We always hear about wine and cheese tastings, but I suggest leaving the dress or tie at home. Instead grab your cable knit sweater and opt for a more casual soiree: A craft beer and cheese party. Craft beers have become ever-so-popular and there are some fantastic seasonal autumn picks to provide!

<div style="border-bottom: medium none; Pick a football game that is central to your location so everyone has a common interest in front of the big screen! Fill your house with autumn-scented candles to set the seasonal mood. Yankee Candle Co. has some Amazing fall scents! Provide 3-4 different autumn beer selections. I suggest Buffalo Bill's Pumpkin Ale (pictured above left) or Sam Adam's October Fest. Check out your grocery's beer selection. You'll be surprised at the variety of fall seasonals. Set a few bottles of each type out and have frosted beer tumblers available. This way your guests can sample a little of each beer. Near your tasting table fill large metal drink caddy's or buckets with the selected beers and ice so everyone can easily continue to drink their favorite seasonal.

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_F3TBy-muIM0/SrQxZHL7JgI/AAAAAAAAARQ/pDZjLi6rdE8/s1600-h/cheese+(2).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; Whole Food's has an incredible selection of Cheese. You can't go wrong with Smoked Gouda, Sharp Cheddar and Pepper Jack with these fall ales. Choose 4-5 different kinds of cheese and provide wheat or multi grain crackers. Fill large glass bowls with Caramel Pop Corn and Shelled Peanuts for gameday. For your non-alcoholic beverage drinkers, have warm cinnamon cider available . When the big game is over, move outside into cool air if you can provide a bonfire or have a large chimenea. Not an option? Light a fire in the fireplace and put on some good music. Try something fun like Louis Armstrong's All Tim Greatest Hits or Ray LaMontage's "Trouble" while everyone is mingling. Both are fun and engaging for calmer casual get-to-gethers.

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_F3TBy-muIM0/SrQ61IodnYI/AAAAAAAAARg/sAv_KuSI4BU/s1600-h/louis+armstrong.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; Opt for uncarved pumpkins-Try Blue and White or different shapes; which you can find at your local garden nurseries. Set large white candles in hurricane jars and fill with cranberries or Pears.

This type of party is easy to pull off. You'll have rave reviews and all the while you'll be sitting by the fire sipping an ice cold beer. WELL HELLLLO FALL!

<div style="border-bottom: medium none; Celebrities have sported her garments on Good Morning America and at Oscar Parties. I absolutely love her Bridal Collection which can be found on http://www.oliazavozina.com/
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; If you're in Franklin, you must visit Adorments ! The ecletic mix of art in all forms will satisfy your craving for something you can't find anywhere else.
Above right: Allison Sturterant, Dim Dugger and Artist Laura Lempke
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; Arriving at your destination after hours in the car or plane, most likely one of the first things you'll want to do is refresh yourself in your long awaited guest room. The last thing you want to find is a bedroom stocked full of sports equipment, office supplies and piles of clothing that obviously didn't have a proper place in the home. Or worse, when you go into your guest bathroom to wash your face, you find the only white towels to dry off with are fringed, nubby, and have spots of hair dye all over them. "Welcome" is the last thing you're going to feel for your week's stay. The room I just described said a lot about the people I was staying with at the time. At the end of the day, where your guests sleep at night will say a lot about you. It'll say more than the touristy finds you show them over their stay. More than the one-of-a kind restaurants you take them to; More than the souvenirs you buy them. IF YOUR GUEST ROOM ISN'T INVITING, DON'T PLAN ON INVITING THEM AGAIN. THEY WON'T COME BACK. Plain and simple.

When decorating a guestroom there are two routes I'd recommend: Clean and Fresh or Warm and Inviting. Most likely your guest aren't going to share your same themed- passions. A room plastered with Stephen Speilberg posters isn't going to make your friend feel at home. Instead, take the knickknacks out, store the clutter in the basement and begin with a clean slate. I'd suggest a room with clean lines: A big white fluffy down comforter and pillows accented with light charcoal walls and a mini chandelier. Or, if you want to go for the warm and inviting affect I'd try chocolate brown walls trimmed in white; A bright green comforter with yellow accents throughout the room and a large vase of gerber daisy's on one of the bed stands.

However you choose to decorate, their are essentials you need to include. A gift or something that will immediately catch your guest's attention is a wonderful idea. A small box of gourmet cupcakes or an item reminicient of the city your home is in is an easy start. I found some great antique looking magnents of famous places in Nashville like the Downtown Farmer's Market, The Union Station Hotel and The Pancake Pantry; all of which are possible places I'd take my guests during their stay. This would be a cute gift to leave on the vanity.

Make sure there are plenty of empty drawers and open closet space with hangers for your guests to unpack their suitcases. It's always so lovely when there is some sort of bench or ottoman at the end of a bed to be able to leave a suitcase on for quick access. This keeps your guests from feeling cluttered in their room; not having to step over suitcases. The bench in the top left corner is the perfect example.

Fluffy pillows, and plenty of them is a necesitity. Leave a bottle of linen spray next to the bedside; but never spray it onto the bed yourself. Leave that to your guest and their own aroma tolerance. You can find these sprays at body shops and boutiques. A collection of unique books, photo albums and magazines is always a nice touch for your guest to browse through during their down time. If you have a frequent visitor, include the person in framed photos around the room. Photos are engaging and this makes someone feel like a true part of your home during their stay.

Upon entering the guest bathroom, make sure there is a surplus of thick, plush towels and wash cloths along with completely filled bottles of Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, etc. If you feel like going the extra mile, provide travel size toothpaste, hairspray, etc.

Back in the room, create a soft atmosphere with bedside lamps or a mini chandelier. Never use an overhead light as the only source of lighting in a room.

For some extra touches, add fresh cut flowers to the room; make sure their is an alarm clock on the nightstand and leave some stationery, possibly monogrammed on the vanity or desk.

I visit one of my college friends on a regular basis. Every time I travel to her and her husband's home, I enjoy a shabby chic room with comfortable wicker furniture, light that streams from a vaulted-ceiling window and my own flat screen tv. This is a far cry from stained towels, a sweaky bed and clutter as described earlier. A room can set the mood for a guest. Take advantage of being in control of someone's positive attitude and their delightful stay by creating a welcoming atmosphere!

Ahhhh apothecary.....jars, that is

Once upon a time, before little recyclable orange plastic
containers existed, a pharmacist would deliver your cold serum in a glass bottle labeled with ingredients that would probably make the modern world laugh, or worse, cringe. Around a century and half ago, in addition to small bottles, larger apothecary jars were used as storage like they are today, though the concept of sterilization on the tools they enclosed was nearly non- existent.
Fortunately, times have changed, but the concept of apothecary jars for storage has resurfaced in the form of decorative purposes. Jars in all sizes and often intriguing shapes have given us an impressive way of displaying everything from boring cotton balls on the bathroom vanity to lemonade in pretty jar-dispensers.

If you shop in high-end antique boutiques you'll find a variety of these jars, usually collectibles, sometimes over a hundred years old. The smaller jars are perfect for simple decoration but these authentic accessories come with a hefty price tag. Plan to spend nothing short of $80 in boutiques for a pale pink 4'' tall medicine jar that ranges 90 years in age. If you can stand rummaging through item-stuffed, musty antique shops or estate sales you may find an array of dirty jars for smaller prices. Washing the dirt is possibly worth the extra step. The value may be just as exceptional and your wallet won't take the generous hit.

Finding replicas of the age old jars can add just as much inspirational design to your space as the actual antiques. After all, sometimes it's hard to justify spending $60 bucks on a tiny piece of glass. There is an extensive inventory of replica's as well as originals on EBay. The pictured above left set of three French stenciled jars are actual jars from the early 19oo's found on EBay. I found a beautiful antique monogrammed replicated jar at Hobby Lobby (pictured right) for $9.99.

Larger Apothecary jars serve many "hard to store and display" purposes. Bathrooms are an easy way fill glass jars full of Q-tips, bath sponges or bath salts. (top-pictured set of four monogramed jars- Potterybarn.com). Try filling a tall jar with multi-colored glycerin soaps for a bright burst of color in a neutral setting or break away from clear glass jars and try a collection of colorful ones. (Pictured multi-colored set currently available on EBay).

Jars full of lemons in the kitchen may be a current trend slightly overdone. However, if you have control over your sweet tooth or inquisitive children, try filling a series of different sized clear jars with peppermint sticks, orange slices and lemon drops! My favorite jar display is an "apothecary jar" drink dispenser; quite possibly the most elegant way to allow guests at a luncheon or soiree to serve themselves!

The possibilities are endless with these jars. While I'm glad we're used to purchasing our headache medicine in disclaimer plastered-plastic bottles, I'm grateful we can use pieces of history to bring inspired style into today's often over-medicated world.

Hobb-knobbin' around

When I was a child, running in circles and playing hide-and-go-seek, I was fascinated by the door knobs in my grandparents home. They weren't like the typical shiny brass knobs that filled my own house. Instead, clear glass engraved knobs accompanied every door in their 1940's home. What was even more intriguing were the key holes in each knob. I was told that skeleton keys were the only way to open these locks, but if you had one, it could open any interior door in the house.Obviously homes just aren't built with the charm and detail they once were. It's typical to see brass or cheap gold fixtures through out new constructions. If you're lucky, you may get silver plated or coated. Thankfully, there is someone sitting at a design desk somewhere, who also remembers the romantic door knobs in their grandparent's homes. These designers are recapturing the essence of hand crafted design. While it's not cheap to refurnish you whole home at once with individualistic knobs, it is an investment to work toward and then cherish. Decorative knobs can be found everywhere from Lowe's to high end boutiques. Be sure to measure the knobs first. Apparently, door knobs aren't one-size-fits-all. I was short of devastated when I got home with my hand-blown pink glass bubble knob only to find it didn't fit correctly.

There is no rhyme or reason to door knobs. In a perfect world, we wouldn't be subjected to hear Kendra Wilkenson's infamous and relentless laugh on E! network over and over again. In an absolutely flawless world, every last person would have their dream closet right out of an episode of Cribs.... If only the world wasn't hopelessly flawed.
Luckily, there are options to make your own dream closet. While it may not exactly be the immaculate vision pictured top right; Though it may not be worthy of a California Closet's advertisement....Your closet can be your own beautiful, organized, budget-friendly utopia.

One of my friends just bought a house where she is lucky enough to have an extra small spare room after the guest room to use as a closet. That's right, AN ENTIRE ROOM! There are so many things to fill a closet up with besides clothes. After all, this is the room where the "Should I Wear the play-it-safe black dress?" or the "I'm going to turn every head in the room red dress" decisions are made. This room should be your personal escape. So paint your closet a color you love, but nothing too drastic. This is the palette for your collection.

Most likely you won't be able to surround the walls with enclosed shelving. Instead hang "hanger shelving" and leave room to build a few stacked shelves to display shoes and handbags.

Your Must-have closet accessories include:

-Wooden Hangers. This is going to take your displayed clothing from a "disheveled TJ Maxx rack look" to a "fresh off the Kate Spade shelf look." Buy them in bulk online where you'll get a discounted price.

-Lighting. Get rid of the overhead light. Nothing too bright. The ideal lighting would be the toned down flawless look the bulbs in the Gap Dressing rooms give illuminate. They're forgiving brightness makes almost any outfit a ten. A must have for your room is a mini-chandelier. (Pictured 39.99 from IKEA.com) Now you're in your personal boutique with this elegant piece.

-Furniture is imperative. Maybe you need a chaise lounge to pass out on from your too-tight pants or a "pondering chair" to browse fashion magazine inspiration. Either way, choose something that flows with the room's colors and overall theme and most importantly, something comfortable. Chaise Lounge- Ballarddesigns.com and Vanity Chair- Potterybarnteen.com. Lastly, stack your Harper's Bazar Magazines and extra handbags on a ottoman. Choose a color that compliments and a pattern that contrasts your seating.

-It's possible the single most important accessory you'll have in your closet is the mirror. Purchase a floor-length over-sized mirror with a thick frame to take up one of your walls. With one of these you'll get the full vision of your fabulously dressed self, and if the room is small, the mirror reflection will create the illusion of an even larger closet.

-Artwork. Decorate any unused walls with Fashionable art pieces. You can order vintage Vogue Covers on art.com. I personally like these pictured Fashion Barbie collector sketches.

-If sq. footage permits, you can add an armoire or vanity to your room. Display Jewelry on an antique mannequin. With the combination all of these pieces and your individual touch, you're sure to have the most coveted closet around. And why shouldn't you? You have the space. You have the wardrobe. Now you have your own clothing playground. If you don’t, I’m sure to commit this crime again. I’ve previously spoken of my weakness for impulse dress shopping and I must say I can’t be held completely accountable for my actions. Everyone has their weaknesses; In the Garden of Eden, Eve’s weakness were pretty red apples. Personally, I would’ve passed up the apple for the nearest palm tree. Palm leaves or some other tropical plant could’ve resulted in a perfectly lovely dress, if put together correctly. My view is: If there’s a marvelous dress on the rack, I don’t have to have an event to attend like a swanky soiree or Wedding # 76. If it’s fabulous and fits like it was made for me....Darn it, it needs to be hanging in my closet. End of Story. THERE WILL BE A SOIREE. THERE WILL BE A WEDDING to attend and I WILL have the perfect dress strapped over a crisp wooden hanger when the time arrives.

This is a very logical way of thinking. I buy with in my means (most of the time) but refuse to sacrifice the opportunity to own “The perfect dress”. I was lucky this past weekend to score the top right brownish-bronze mini cocktail dress with burnt orange piping at What’s in Store in Downtown Franklin. Amongst the array of boutiques on Main Street, What’s in Store values fashion and the current status of the economy. Their modestly middle priced clothing, jewelry, handbags, and hats can’t be found any where else and celebs like Taylor Swift and Jessica Simpson have graced the doors. A rarity sprung among Franklin’s “High and left your wallet dry” shops, What's in Store even advertises coupons once in a while.

Quite possibly one of my favorite boutique dresses is the pictured right ivory “puff dress” as I like to call it. I would have never chosen this party dress on my own, but when I went into The French Shoppe last Spring on a sales call the exuberant owner prompted me to try it on. Uncertainty clouded my reflection in the mirror and visions of 1980’s bridesmaids came to mind. Convinced I would fall under the spell of the subtle sparkles and pompous puffs, the owner told me to take the dress free of charge. If I didn’t like it, I could bring it back the following week, no questions asked. He was convinced the only thing I’d be returning to the store with would be my debit card. He was right. Six days, Two hours later I was the proud owner of a piece of fashion I’m convinced no one else in Nashville owns. That was over a year ago. I still haven’t worn it. The uncertainty still surfaces when I try it on. Confidence is the only accessory to be worn with this dress. I’m at 99.9; “Puff Dress” takes 110%. I’ll be sure to post pictures when I get the courage to display this individual piece in public. Until then, it’ll hang nicely on bar snuggled with my collection of “Worn” and “To Be Worn.” A collection of femininity; bright and subtle pieces, individualistic; Many Expressive, though some subtle... A collected collaboration worth the wait of wearing.

A twisted and tied idea.....

There are certain friends that everyone needs in their lives. These people are creative and can lend the helping stylish hand when you're at an idea standstill. My friend Katie Zimmerman as I mentioned in my Summer Daze entry is great with entertaining ideas. Lyndsey Marr- a master at home interior picks. Harlena Walters can turn any outfit into a Ten by just adding one of her fabulous pairs of shoes! And then there's Erin Drawdy; Ms. Queen of craft herself.
Last night a large crowd celebrated our friend Jamie's birthday. When cake and gift time rolled around Jaime opened several cards and clever gifts. What was impossible to miss was the brightly wrapped gift box from Erin, in a sort of fabric material sitting so pleasantly loud in the middle of the table. I admit before Jaime opened the mystery box I was quite puzzled by the wrapping technique, but it became oh-so-clear when she pulled the knotted bows with their tassels apart....It turns out the wrapping was made from one of the ever-so - popular scarves that everyone is wearing in the midst the of 90 degree heat hysteria. Though I make the heat remark with sarcasm, I admit I'm a sucker for the stylish and affordable finds. My drawers feature colors and prints of every sort. I just can't imagine being happier if my gift wrap was indeed part of my actual present! Jamie received cute accessories inside the box but the scarf definitely was the key find!
Another great way to wrap a scarf is by using a square silk one. These are great finds at vintage stores. Example pictured with orange silk scarf. My personal wrapping tips: Stock up on bright colored scarves at Forever 21. They range from 5.99- 14.99. (pictured middle left) Longer scarves will be better for more rectangular boxes while the silk scarves will be good for your square boxes. You may want to iron the scarf first if it isn't a naturally wrinkled up material (as many of them actually are). Practice with a few different knot-tying techniques before you settle on one. I practiced on a creal box (above hounds tooth scarf and left brown scarf). This can be a little tricky. Lastly, if your gift needs a little something extra, try finding a broach or a silk flower to pin on and complete the look, as I did with a pink Broach on the above hounds tooth scarf. I've absolutley found a reason not to settle on those impersonal gift bags, but instead try out some seriously fashionable gift...or should I say "scarf" wrap!

If God closes windows, forget the bigger door, I want another window

When I was a little kid I watched a show on The Disney Channel called The Torkelsons. Adolescent, yet so ready to be grown up 14-yr-old Dorthy Jane Torkelson would end the show each week by curling up on the cushions upon the window seat in her Victorian Bay window. "Oh Man in the Moon..." she would plead in her southern drawl..."While this window seat provides me a sanctuary from the storm of five younger brothers and sisters, I'm still not at peace...Will older sophisticated Riley ever ask me to the Homecoming Dance?" Dorthy was dramatic and maybe a few years beyond her age...But what better way to consult The Man in the Moon than in your own personal "sanctuary from the storm?"
I love windows; Big sun-pouring windows. So, what better of a place to relax inside than a window seat? The feeling of the sun or moon shining in on you while you get lost in your thoughts is truly a sense of peace. What I love the most about window seats is you can build one most anywhere. My junior year of college we had an open space under the window about 3 feet wide between the refrigerator and the counter. I decided I'd take it upon myself to design and build an easy seat with bright cushions. The slide in seat took me a few hours to build (okay, I actually directed my friend Bill while I leaned again the counter with a tall glass of lemonade). This kitchen spot always ended up being a gathering place when people came over. I eventually ended up moving it into my bedroom. It fit between my armoire and desk. (Pictured above left, with green and pink pillows.)

If you own your own house and can put in a permanent seat, pick an open spaced window in the kitchen or that corner window in the family room. Picking out cushions may be the most exciting part. I'd choose two options so you can change them out twice a year. Such an easy way to update a simple room.

currently don't have a window seat in my home but I did move a bench I got on deep discount from Pier One Imports in front of my living room window. While it's mostly used for my cat to lounge and bake in the sun, I still find myself on it every once in awhile watching the sun go down, getting lost in my dreams. Maybe someday my window seat will be like this ocean view. That's something to get lost in.

Celebrate the Last Daze of Summer....

Though I whole- heartedly refuse to acknowledge the lazy days of summer may be nearing a bittersweet end, the world of retail is reminding me at an increasingly rapid pace. That wonderful stretch of Summer Sales where a store's summer collection is at least 50% off is over. Sweaters and coats now fill the shelves. Just yesterday I strolled through Hobby Lobby only to be bombarded by an assortment of Christmas decorations. Luckily, Mother Nature is fighting the tug-of-war against red leaves and apple cyder . The Temperature, averaging the high 80's with humidity that has girls reaching for their Frizz-ease , has reminded me that summer, indeed isn't gone yet.

My friend Katie, the ever-admired social entertainer had a gathering this past weekend themed around the comedy Dazed and Confused. What I loved most was the fact that there were all ages present at Katie's and at some point in the movie every one could relate to the flick.

Dazed and Confused follows teenagers on their last day of school in 1976 approaching their senior year. I've seen this movie a dozen times, though don't think I've ever laughed as hard as I did with a larger group watching this with me; not to mention the one liners of Mathew McConaughey and Ben Affleck's are priceless! My favorite part of the night was the movie brought back memories of the care-free days of summer when we didn't have bills and careers to worry about, but instead, what excuse we were going to give our parents for coming in two hours late. This is an easy party idea for all ages! Heck I think this is even a great gathering idea for people my parent's age! What a way to take them "back in the day...."

Invite 8-10 of your favorite friends. For party beverages I'd definitely suggest beer. It's very fitting for the flick. I'd skip the keg (you'll see enough of those in the movie) and opt for an ice chest or one of those large metal buckets and fill with cold beverages; maybe even craft beers. (Above pictured ice chest from Potterybarn.com) Serve easy refreshing appetizers. (You don't want to make a fuss out of food at this laid back get-together.) Katie served Tomato Caprese (Cherry Tomatoes, Fresh Mozzarella Balls, Fresh Basil) on Skewers with oil and vinegar on the side for dipping. She also did baked cheese quesadillas with all of the fixings on the side for guests to dress themselves. Baked pita chips and hummus with Fresh sliced watermelon will surely feed your friends appetite for summer.

Before and after the movie put on your favorite classic rock 70's play list or satellite station. It brings the complete mood together. Summer may be nearing an end, but memories from our youth are still around, and often very fun to revisit.

It's Fella Friday in the South

Well Ladies, (and my well appreciated Gentlemen readers), I’m dedicating Friday to the Guys. It’s simple; A little something for the Fella’s and the Girls who love them. This Fella Friday I’d like to chat about the beach. Do you notice when you go way down South, or to the East Coast there is a different way about the way many guys look and dress? I have a handful of guy friends who would label these types of men as preppy frat boys who need to man up and ditch the pastel shirts and Sperry Boat Shoes. Well, I have my own label for them. Confident. We all know it takes a real man to wear pink and it takes the shear attitude of “I’ve got it completely together and don’t care what you think of me” to wear starfish on his bow tie. I think there’s potential for a guy to overdo this look, but in moderation it can be incredibly appealing.
Charleston and Sea Side don’t have to be the only cities with Men walking down cobblestone streets in Sear Sucker Suits and Shorts embroidered with Little Red Lobsters. Fortunately a very impressive company, Southern Proper, is making it possible for men all over the South to get the “Just walked off a Boat in Nantucket” look! Check them out at http://www.southernproper.com/ or visit their site on Facebook. The two women who created this company consider it to be a tradition of Southern Men, in particular, to possess sophisticated and influential attire leading to their status of Southern Gentlemen. Southern Proper is a “southern-inspired line of clothing, neckties, bow ties and accessories for men who have a deep appreciation for style and heritage.”
While there are well thought out designs and color combinations in these collections, There are items that I’d steer clear from. While I’m not crazy about all the prints, I do think it’s a good idea for guys to go out on a limb and have fun with clothing. My advice….You don’t have to take on the lifestyle of a “Southern Proper male” completely, but why not splurge on one tie that is different from what everyone else is wearing? As I mentioned in my post to the ladies a few days ago…Uniqueness and confidence, if attained together is a set of qualities to be heavily admired…..No matter what print is on your tie.

All outfits, bow tie and neck tie: See Southernproper.com for vendor locations .

Your naked clothes are begging to be accessorized

What is it about flowers that makes a girl happy? For me, it's the feeling of spring, of getting a surprise on a whim, the feeling of a summer breeze gliding across my face...Okay, I'll cut the romantic dramatic crap. I like flowers because: A. they smell good, and B. They can take a boring black outfit to absolute fashion fabulousness.

I know girls who swear by their preppy cardigans. They love the classic look of a sharp, clean button down J Crew knit in a great solid color like Fresh Green Grass; something you'd also find on a Gap mannequin; An individual piece I personally think should be reserved for second grade teachers. (Hold on teachers, I respect you and I'm going somewhere with this). I'll be honest, if it weren't for the whole librarian feeling I get when I wear these things I would've been sporting these little get-ups for years. They're comfortable and easy. Luckily I just got a wake up call; a re-found reason to walk into the office wearing one.....The secret? A bloomin' flower, ladies. I prefer silk but I'll settle for casual cotton with a great print. You can get these flowers at many local retail chains and boutiques. Many come with pins, some are clip-ons. Put them on your sweaters, tees, bags, shoes. I'd suggest even going to Hobby Lobby where they have beautiful flowers. Cut the stem off and stick a safety pin through the base. The best colors to pick through the end of summer are bright ones! Put a fushia flower on a yellow sweater. Put a combination of purple and yellow flowers on your Grass Green Cardigan. If I could scream anything from the roof enough relating to the world of clothing and interiors it would be "Don't be Afraid of Color!" You'll hear me say this a lot more.

Whatever you do, please don't overload flowers in your hair. I went to college with a girl who thought she lived on the island of Fiji. She placed clipped tropical flowers every night in her long blonde mane of curly hair. To the restaurant...to the bar she went....I always felt like someone should buy her a Pina Colada or one of those little pretty drinks with an umbrella in it to complete her look. Summer or not, the look didn't work 4 years ago and it wouldn't now (at least if you're miles from the beach like this landlocked soul).
I can't stress enough, with the end of summer nearing and the fall too quickly approaching...don't be afraid of flowers on your garments. Take it down a notch on your shoes once Labor Day rolls around, but sport your flowers now, and throw in some plaid or tweed flowers to wardrobe this fall. There is nothing better than the feeling of uniqueness and confidence at the same time when you walk in the room. Add a flower to your outfit and I promise you the phrase "flower power" will have a whole new meaning.

Above outfits: Sweater with multiple flowers (can be purchased surprisingly at my not so favorite New York and Co.) Mustard yellow clutch and Must have Pink heels both from Jcrew.com

"Let them eat CUPcakes"

Marie Antoinettes' alarmed French commoners may not have found her infamous line so insulting if they lived in today's society where cupcakes are no longer a little blob of flour, sugar and egg in a pink paper wrapper; instead an art form; an over-the-top gourmet sought after treat.
I believe a personal forecast of the growing cupcake trend came a little over two years ago when it was ironically my father who informed me that wedding cakes are out of style. Apparently in South Florida cutting the cake was so five years ago and cupcakes for guests were all the rage. I don't believe that we Southerns have fully caught onto that trend, however, my friend Hannah had a lovely Winter Wedding last year and broke tradition with scrumptious Red Velvet Cupcakes. I certainly didn't hear any complaints.
Across the country, Gourmet cupcake bakeries are popping up. Here, in Nashville, you can expect to pay

around $3.75 for a
piece of the cake piled high with a frosting lover's dream of whipped sugar, butter and a bright burst of color. I've tried one gourmet brand in Franklin I really don't care to waste the calories on, but I'm dying to try The Cupcake Collection in German Town. The story alone, of a whole family making a dream job come true is worth the trip. Check out their story at http://www.nashvillescene.com/2009-02-26/news/the-sweet-spot (Scroll all the way down. The story is hidden.) I'm also a big fan of Whole Foods beautifully decorated creations. Anyone who knows me well knows that I crave cupcakes like Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt crave attention. I once had a Vanilla Cupcake scented Yankee Candle I had to shove into the bottom desk drawer. When burning, the aroma caused me 1 am trips to the 24-hour Kroger while studying for exams in college; resulting in a few unwanted pounds. The temptation of cupcakes is something I can't deny. Cupcakes over Cake at my wedding someday? Maybe. Until then, I can depend on fluffy cake piled high with rich frosting most anywhere, thanks to their ever growing popularity. And to all of those commoners that snubbed the French Queen's remark, I can say, "Yes, Marie, I will gladly eat cake."

Boarding the plane just to use one of these!

Something as small as a passport case may, to some,
be an item that should stay simple; i.e. Navy or Black leather. My summer Sun Dresses! On average I usually add to my collection at least once a week. I have dresses hanging in my closet that have had the tags on them for two years. If I see a dress I love, I buy it; whether I have a place to wear it or not. End of story. I may need it someday. As Sarah Jessica Parker's character, Carrie, says in Sex in the City, "I like my money right where I can see it, Hanging in my closet". Agreed. This summer my favorite is the maxi dress. Especially Strapless. Where them to a cook out...where them out on the town. It is a must for your wardrobe. I'd pair them with some flat sandals. If you're 5'2'' or shorter, wedges will do the trick.

This Yellow Maxi also available in Blue, Jcrew.com

Since I can remember, I've been engrossed by fashion and interior design.
